This is not a commentary on the buyers or sellers in this $205,000
purchase just a response to "are there economic parallels?".

I suspect there are factors that are between the two parties that
we're unaware of in this purchase. Just speculation, but what is the
promotional value of having a two or three page spread in every Ag
magazine that covers alpacas? How much is two column inches in
multiple newspapers worth? Also, the timing of this transaction
raises the possibility that year-end tax considerations entered the
equation.

That said;
These parallels are only valid if "mass hysteria" takes over and
people with dissimilar circumstances act the same way.
