We live in Pa and recently purchased a female in NM.  We traveled for 32 hrs with her in our mini van and she did wonderful.  We stopped at the rest areas and got her out. She went to the bathroom every time and never messed in the van in the 1600 mi trip!  We had a hay bag and a water bucket  that we took the lid off when we stopped,  We put a rubber mat on the floor covered by carpet and it is a wonderful way to travel.  We go to FL and transport 2 of them with no problems.  We never use our clumsy trailer !   Margaret Laird Lighthouse Alpacas Pa --- On Sat, 8/21/10, Laura A. I would think the mini van would be good also in the heat over the trailer, especially in this Texas heat, you can crank up the A/C Keep an eye on them and they wouldn't suffer from the heat unless you have an air-conditioned trailer.   We also discussed this week that we might think of getting a mini van just for this purpose when we thought we'd have to take in our newborn cria to the vet earlier this week, but all is well and we didn't have to.  (we also thought if we needed to, we'd use the camper). :c)   Good luck & Congrats,   Donna Cuddly DD Alpacas
