[AlpacaTalk] alpaca rescue
Lately I have been reading and hearing more about alpacas being placed in not-so-perfect situations because of owner financial or physical difficulties. There is so much information out there on caring for alpacas, but very little in what to do when someone needs to give an alpaca away. We have all heard the stories of people buying or adopting alpacas for one reason and later realizing it was not as they thought. So, what happens to these alpacas? Where can the people go for help? Well, I can't solve all these problems, but I would like to offer what help I can. I have set up a new chat site called Alpaca 911, which is also the name of our rescue. This groups is for anyone who is willing or able to help with fostering or taking on an alpaca rescue. It is NOT a commitment, but rather a group of individuals that may be able to help someone else out. If you are ever able to "host" an alpaca or two for a while, please consider joining. If you know of someone who may need to surrender an alpaca, this group can find who is closest to be able to help. Maybe you can't foster an animal but could provide transportation, even in a limited area. I know that there are farms out there that would be happy to have these animals, I just can't seem to find one location to see where they are! So if you have an interest, please join and invite anyone you know that is interested.
