[AlpacaTalk] Re: Dogs? Coyotes? killed my only 3 females alpacas left, help with any information

I'm so sorry for your loss! That must be horrible to wake up to.
Along with any other suggestions about fencing etc, get as many livestock guardian dogs as you can! We have several Great Pyrenees...started out with 2...and we have never had an attack in 9 years. We have stray dogs, coyotes, black bear, and cougar in our area. A cougar killed some calves in a neighbor's pasture that is visible from our front porch, but we never even knew it was around because of our Pyrs on guard. We noticed that the Pyrs were guarding more in the direction of the neighbor's pasture but we had no idea what was happening until the neighbor stopped and told us a couple of weeks later.

And don't give up...there are some really good buys right now.

I went out and ones throat was tore open, and the other two were chewed on the rear end. Was this dogs? Coyotes? I don't know what to do.
