Re: [AlpacaTalk] Dogs? Coyotes? killed my only 3 females alpacas left, help with any information

I am so very sorry for your loss and the pain you are feeling. I've lost some animals along the way, crias only with the alpacas, but every life is so very special. You sound like a true 'animal person' and for those of us who connect with them, it is difficult to lose them. My life is empty if I don't have animal energy in my life. It's just the way it is for us. I do know that your pain will lighten a bit as time goes on, though right now it may not seem possible.

Here in Ohio, if you can get the animal warden to document that it was coyotes, you may be able to recover at least a little of the money from the state. I don't know any of the details, but I do know there are situations where it may be possible. As much as we love our animals, there is the real side of money with them, too. If there is any way to swing it, now is the time to buy. For just 2-3K you can get a bred female. She may not be the absolute best, but she can breed up. The economy sucks for those of us finding ourselves on fixed incomes, but you never know what kind of a deal is waiting for you. I am convinced that the market for our alpacas will get better in the future........it's just that right now it's rough times for everybody........and that's why there are such deals to be had. Right now might not be the best time to consider much of anything outside of healing yourself of your emotional pain, though. So be gentle with yourself and don't try to rush anything.

Hang in there......I'm sure we all are with you and support you and wish you only the best.
