Free Alpacas Newsletter- How to Profit from Alpaca Farming

RE: [AlpacaTalk] Re: Fwd: Current status of group

Hi Sue,

Yes, that is it..the owner has all the privileges and can either grant or
not any abilities to the moderators. He had it set so that we could not
control anything that was happening. Each email that someone tried to post
made an email in our inbox at home telling each of us that someone was
trying to post.

A second email asked us to approve or deny the post

A third email then confirmed that we'd made a decision

A fourth email then confirmed that the post had been allowed to go on the
site.

That meant that for each posting our boxes were being bombed...and then
everyone started posting repeatedly because they did not immediately see
their posts coming through.and that really stuffed the boxes.especially for
those of us who work "away from the farm" so to speak..

And, further.we could not modify the settings to correct that constant
bombardment.. Now it was not nice for me and the others.especially Jan
Davis. That computer is her eye on the world.she can't easily get around so
stuffing her box with mounds of unnecessary mail covering up what is
important.is NOT KIND to say the least.

So we were then madly emailing among our selves to see if we could affect
those settings to turn off the endless stream of folks having a personal
meltdown when the site was not quickly passing their posts through.

That was not done by us.we did not even know.in my instance at least.that it
was happening for several hours. I was at work, not home so my box was
truly stuffed with this mail mixed through my normal mail feeds.and that
took time just to sort.

So, then folks were rabidly posting and reposting because they were not sure
what was happening. How the archives and some of the other stuff
disappeared, I don't know. We were all examining our moderator buttons to
see what might affect the never ending stream of posts to our home boxes.and
we might have touched something.but we certainly did not start the flood,
nor mean to screw it up more!

Best Regards,

Allison

Hi Allison

I have seen folks post a couple of times that there are passwords
that are being withheld. Actually, unless Rick has been able to take
the Yahoo group to a level I don't know about (which is entirely
possible)there aren't actually passwords. What I think has happened
is that he has only assigned minimal priviledges to the moderators.
Moderators can have the same capabilities as the Owner but the Owner
has to grant that. Hopefully thinngs will straighten out soon. It
sounds like you were booted as a moderator- sorry to hear that; I
think you would have made a good one.
