RE: [AlpacaTalk] Fwd: Current status of group

Your words are kind, thoughtful and pretty much right on...Thanks for the
kindness.

I am sorry that Alpacasite was/is in such an uproar. I think the lull is
not true stability. It still concerns me that with Rick at the helm,
sooner or later there will be yet another repeat.

He's still owner. No moderator can reach the settings..he's got all the
passwords, so it is a matter of time. After all, this is not the first time
he's done this in my recollection; and for that very reason.adult behavior
tends to repeat in a history so..the best indicator of future behavior
becomes past behavior..and that would indicate that he will "lose it"
again.sooner or later. It just does not seem good for the site overall
that 3100 folks get pushed aside while he has a meltdown. They are all nice
about it..but it just should not have happened and certainly, should not
happen again.

Subject: [AlpacaTalk] Fwd: Current status of group

I recently posted this to Alpacasite, but surprise, surprise, it has
not as yet, been posted to the group. I seriously doubt if the
egomaniac in charge will ever really let go of the reins, but there is
an alternative! Right here! I'll go on record that I have never removed
a true alpaca breeder member. I have removed spammers, and I did
moderate one member's posting privileges. And, even though this group
is small by comparison the other group, I have entertained adding more
moderators. One person cannot man the site 24 hours a day, one
moderator cannot possibly answer all of the needs of a group as large
as the one currently in so much turmoil.

Frankly, much of that turmoil was caused by the owner/moderator
himself. Who needs that? Is that really appropriate for adult
business-people? I can tell you, I'll take my business else-where. So
this is admittedly AlpacaTalk serving, but tell your friends to join
this group and post here. I won't ban or perma-moderate you if you
disagree with me or even if you have something negative to say about
me! Ask the people who have done so! All I ask is that you don't post
business ads here. Yes, some that I've let slide do perform a high-wire
act of straddling the line... shearers and transporters specifically..
but since we are all in need of shearers I figure the more opportunity
the better...

Just do not post your alpacas for sale, or LGDs for sale, or herdsires
for hire. That is definitely where I draw the line.

And, being that I am very open minded and this group is open to
discussion by its members, please feel free to weigh in on your
opinions.

I have not added more moderators to this point, because I felt I could
handle the stuff that happens here... so far. But I have felt for at
least 2 or 3 years that I should think about adding another moderator
or few, just t make sure we don't have a situation like what happened
at that other Yahoo alpaca group. I say it her and I said it there
(although I don't think it made it to the group - due to my
"perma-moderation" there) "Absolute power corrupts absolutely." And
don't think I haven't thought about that every time I wanted to delete
a post from this member or that, which was critical of me. and I stayed
my hand, because I believe that freedom of speech is more important
than my own personal beliefs.

So, anyway, spread the word, this group is open to all alpaca breeders
or enthusiasts. And I do want to add more moderators, because sometimes
I would like a break! :)

Best wishes,
Heather
