Free Alpacas Newsletter- How to Profit from Alpaca Farming

Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: AOBA Shennanigans/subsidiary

We're not "opted out" of anything regarding alpacas, unlike many breeders
(Westwind Alpacas & Stardust Alpacas included) who are "opted out" of
disclosing ownership information in the ARI database. We want and welcome
all alpaca related email and contact information and readily share our own
information. To fail to stay on top of industry information (see what the
other guy is doing) or conceal our ownership information would be comparable
to operating a pizza takeout with an unlisted phone number.

I'm not sure what difference it makes whether an email comes from a
benefactor, a non-benefactor, a non-AOBA member or otherwise, such as a
supplier. As far as I know, you're right... AOBA does not design ads when
you contract them for a mailing. But, they don't design ads for benefactors
or others that send commercial email, either.

"goods or services for our membership fees" seems to be exactly what you are
talking about. As pointed out by Steve McCarthy, it is quite common for
"benefactors" of organizations, non-profit or otherwise, to receive special
benefits. Those benefits are available to any member that chooses to
donate. It is not illegal... but if you think it is, request the TN
Attorney General to investigate/bring charges.

The AOBA commercial spots are run on Direct TV and Dish Network. They're
run nationally, on a variety of channels. We see them often. Others
obviously see them as well, or there would be no AOBA inquiries and no
"leads". We've found no shortage of leads available for purchase. AOBA
commercials are on a "spot buy" basis... kinda like being on "standby" for a
flight. There is no advance schedule. But, I believe you can get an
accounting from Jerry Miller or MarCom as to date, time, channel and network
where a spot has been run.

To the contrary here... I don't believe I am the one that is "angry".
