Ok. I just have to say you must have either opted out of something
somewhere, or maybe you didn't disclose your email address to AOBA. I
get emails weekly, even daily, even multiple times a day, from many of
those "benefactors." Buy this animal, you need breedings to that sire.
You know the ads. And does AOBA design those ads when we ask to buy
email blasts from them? I don't know, they certainly don't publish that
info anywhere, you have to call them. But I doubt that they do it
gratis, as part of the fee for sending the emails to the membership.

You argument with regards to the mortgage company and gas stations is
like apples to oranges. We're not supposed to talking about actual
goods or services for our membership fees, are we? We're not paying
membership dues to Safeway or Shell. My membership in my credit union
allows me access to all of the credit union's products and services. A
non-profit is not allowed to benefit some members more than others,
even if some members "donate" more. That is illegal. Donating to the
Sisters of Mercy should not get me better at healthcare than even the
indigent at PeaceHealth clinics or hospitals. Giving the membership
database to only a certain few is illegal.

And let's be clear, AOBA is not producing TV commercials that are seen
very widely. I never see any. But I do see Florida's Natural Orange
Juice ads all the time, Cotton, Got Milk, Beef; It's What's for Dinner,
Pork; the Other White Meat, etc., etc. Those are marketing cooperatives
that are working and are highly visible.
