Re: [AlpacaTalk] AOBA Shennanigans/subsidiary
When did the cost of the subscription go down? Last I heard for sure,
it was $50 per year. Regardless. Benefactors get an Excel spreadsheet
of the entire AOBA membership, updated quarterly. I may be mistaken,
but I think we got a spreadsheet way back in 1998 or 99 for no
additional charge.
As Robin Kuhl asked on alpacapolitics, which is it, is AOBA making too
much money requiring this for profit subsidiary, or does it not have
enough money? It cannot be both! If it's making too much money, perhaps
lowering fees for the FRG and Herdsire Edition ads would help both
breeders with shallower pockets and AOBA, by bringing it closer to that
break even point. Give us all Excel spreadsheets of the membership!
Your view that a magazine subscription is hardly free as compared to
the $1500 or $5000 benefactor price tag is acknowledged. All I'm saying
is, every member used to get that mag as part of their membership
benefit, even associate members. And if AOBA is making too much money,
maybe the powers that be ought to consider making things more
accessible for us little fishes.
