Re: [AlpacaTalk] what can you do to help

I am thinking that Paul and AFCNA are working on the blankets, Pendleton type? Seems that Paul said something about that awhile back?

AFCNA is not narrow minded in my opinion. The direction has taken a new curve and I believe that Starr and John and other new board members, are making inroads on changing the thrust of the marketing and development of products.

I don't belong but would if I had the bucks to spare.

Part of the problem with AFCNA is that there must be tons of fiber sitting in breeder's barns needing sorting, de-vegging and shipping.

I wish we had the labor..very expert and knowledgeable labor to sort the fiber so it could be sent to AFCNA. This wouldn't come free unless volunteers would jump out of the barns (or that would be -into- the barns) to help out those in their associations who are buried in years and years worth of fiber.

Problem with storing it too long are rodents, bugs and if it gets damp, felting.

I often wonder about a possible idea of -- we keep the fleece we want for our own use and then have a weekend gathering where everyone brings all the rest of their fiber to sort etc. and then package to ship to AFCNA. Of course then means willing cooperative hearts, hands and minds to share this job with a very expert sorter in charge.
