I thought this was a longer term condition. If it only lasts for a little while and resolves without treatment then it will be much more difficult to diagnose (because it does not affect the alpaca long enough).

In this case it may instead be something involving her inner ear, where balance is largely determined. Spinous ear ticks are something we also have in the U.S. Perhaps these are an issue, or a low grade inner ear infection.

Regardless it is very mysterious and I am very happy that you have your veterinarian involved, for they are far more qualified to work through this with you. Best of luck and if you and your veterinarian ever figure this out, please let us all know!
