There are some infections that can cause this as well. So it is probably best to involve a veterinarian. Listeria (bacterial infection) is one, but thiamine deficiency causing polioencephalomalacia is probably the number one cause in alpacas. You need to give massive quantities of thiamine which is only available from a veterinarian here is the U.S. Giving B complex shots does not provide enough thiamine to be anywhere near effective.

I am not sure if you have a parasite called meningeal worm, but here in the eastern U.S. that would be something we would also treat for if an animal showed those symptoms.

Good luck! These are treatable, but you must act quickly to reduce the effects from becoming permanent or fatal.
