Any kind of sugars will cause an elevation in acid. Studies have found
too much corn has been causing ulcers in alpacas ( which are very
difficult to treat especially when one has no clue as to which stomach
chamber the ulcer is in... ).
Janice, sign up to the alpaca site/ yahoo group. Lots of good health
questions come up there. Got a few vets who often chime in!>>>

Sorry Dede I forgot why I clipped this to respond to in my last post.
I have tried the alpacasite but each time I have tried to post it has
been rejected for one reason or another by one of the moderators
there. I have belonged to at least 50 different yahoo groups at
various times over the past 12 yrs and have never had a problem posting
anywhere except to alpacasite. I don't know why - I just can't seem to
pen my posts properly to suit them. I know it is a good group and
very informative. But I always get the info I seek here - and
quickly. When I was having chronic issues and emergencies this group
came thru for me so many times and so quickly. There are several here
on this list that don't post often but are standing at the ready to
help. I know because thanks to their quick responses - and offers of
phone numbers, many of my precious much loved alpacas are still alive
today. One of the members here is relatively close to me, about an
hour away, and during one emergency offered to come with her trailer
and haul my sick alpaca 2 hrs north to a vet she knew was good. Now
THAT is caring. I will never forget her for that offer and would do
anything in the world for her.....if you're still reading Deb :-).
