I have to tell you, I didn't squander AOBA's money with poor decisions and poor financial management and forecasting. I didn't waste that money. I had no say in any of those decisions that put AOBA in the mess it's in.
A friend wrote to me and pointed out the losses in issues sent to retail outlets, bookstores, Tractor Supply, etc. Specifically, $90k loss on those issues. Seems that it would be logical to cut that loss by a lot. If store A only sells X copies each quarter, only send them that many, or maybe a few more than their actual sales. This is not rocket science.
I agree, I prefer my reading materials to be printed matter, too. And having issues to show or give to prospective clients is a very good idea. You can't do that with digital media. You can't take your digital mag to the doctor's office or where ever. That's true. I agree we do have a need for the printed mag. Someone just needs to make some sensible decisions about it. Hey, maybe lower the cost of 1/3 and 1/4 page ads (do they offer 1/4 page ads? I don't know), so that more people can buy them, and that will increase the revenue for the magazine. Again, not rocket science.
I have offered ideas of actually lowering the costs of services to make them more available to more breeders only to have the board members almost laugh in my face. Not very responsive BOD in the past several years, IMO.
