Re: [AlpacaTalk] Alpaca treats

My females get supplement; my males don't.  But, as I indicated, it took several years before one of my alpacas would touch a carrot.  However,  once one tastes one and enjoys it, the others learn really fast!  As for windfall apples, they prefer the apples to supplement.  Some of them will wait patiently beneath the tree until something drops, and then it's a spit-fest to see who gets it.  And I didn't need to teach them to denude my blackberry bushes; they seem to know those are good without being coaxed (drat!)

Subject: [AlpacaTalk] Alpaca treats

Do you folks who get your alpacas to enjoy carrots also feed grain? I'd love to be able to use carrots, but my alpacas just turn up their noses at the nice little slices I've made--even hiding them in a handful of grain--they' ll manage to eat the grain and leave the carrots behind.
Thanks.
