Re: [AlpacaTalk] RE: [Alpacasite] ???Candidate pledge problems---I think not!
Frankly, I fail to see what the problem is with quoting a post. If you reply to a post with the original post attached, is that not the same thing?
Lisa,
Just to explain better....I posted Vickie's post with permission---and DB
when he answered her, did not call his response confidential in any
manner---so I did have permission of the author when I posted...but I also
did forget not to quote a post...
However, upon finding the error---I promptly and publically apologized. I
was NOT trying to break the rules. And---so many people are asking for
information that I was trying to respond...and also to tell DB that we never
received anything requesting time line flexibility----I too have a mother
near 100...and this week with all the other stuff that was cutting
loose----she started attacking staff at the facility where she lives----so I
was also trying to deal with family problems. NC---the one I was a part
of---was very flexible if the reason was one that was legitimate. We were
simply not asked.

Folks,
Here is the deal....
If any member breaks a rule, unintentionally, they get a friendly reminder.
If they ignore the friendly reminders, they are put on "moderate" status for
a month or so. They can still read and post, but their posts will only go
through if they comply with the rules. I have to physically review every
moderated post, and either approve it, or write a post to the sender asking
them to resubmit with whatever change needs to be made. I check mail at
least twice a day, but don't live on the computer - so there may be a time
delay. Pain in the butt for the member, and for me.
If any member breaks a rule intentionally, they lose their posting
privilages: 1 month first offense, 3 months second, 1 year third. This
isn't anything new -- it's just rare for a member to intentionally break a
rule. They can still read posts, just can't participate.
The site owner also has the discretion to do anything he likes, any time he
likes. He owns the site. The moderators, Jan Davis and myself, just police
the site - with regards to the rules. We work for the site owner - because
we value the site, not for the pay (nothing).
Allison just lost her posting privilages for one month -- not because she
forgot to paraphrase, but because she forwarded a post without permission of
the author, and permission from one of the moderators (Rule #2). If you
would like to contact her, you'll find her E-mail address on her last post.
If you disagree with this action -- please vent constructively by writing to
the site owner:
alpacasite-owner@yahoogroups. com
The original post will be removed from the archives, as the author never
gave permission to share his private post.
And for the record - I've also lost permission to post, as has Jan Davis and
Rick Horn. So these rules apply to all without discrimination.
If anyone wants to review the rules -- here they are:
1. No advertising. This includes advertising of seminars, shows, and
events.
2. No forwarding (to the list) of private e-mails or from other forums
without email permission from the author and the Alpacasite moderator.
3. Please keep posts relevant to the alpaca community. Responses that are
of interest to one person only, should be sent privately. And...if you
receive messages in digest form, please delete everything except relevant
points.
4. This community is built on courtesy and respect for all. Enthusiasm and
passion is encouraged but flames, lectures, insults, or English lessons will
not be tolerated.
5. Signature block rules.
Mandatory: User's actual name, city and state.
Optional: Farm name, phone and fax numbers, email, link to your alpaca web
site (AlpacaNation is OK), and one tag line delineating who you are - no
marketing.
Warmest Regards,
