hi Susan - what is a multi?

Hi Wendy - thanks for asking!  A multi is a pinto or paint-colored alpaca with large white patches on a dark body OR large dark patches on a white body.  Pintos have white across their backbone between the withers (shoulderblades) and the tail.  Tuxedos are not multis unless they also have large white patches on their body.

My pet peeve was that I keep seeing animals that are just dark animals with white socks and white facial markings being registered and/or listed on the sales websites as multis, which they definitely are not.  (excuse me while my latest kitten rescue is giving me hugs around the neck and kisses so its hard to type LOL - needless to say, we are keeping this one, which now totals 10 cats!  Some are adoptions waiting to happen though.)
