Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: Acero Marka
You are right, Acero Marka was both a macho and the name of the ranch in Bolivia that bred some of the finest fibered animals ever. I have a dam from that line, she is not a full-bred bolivian, but she IS out of Acero Marka's Everado, a true black stud from Bolivia that died a while back. My dam is going on six years old, has had four cria and STILL has a 16 micron fiber. The cria she has given have, without a doubt had some of the most premiere fiber ever. While she doesn't have much in crimp and density, when you breed her to studs with those qualities, the fiber is amazing. I'm not sure I would ever part with this dam considering what she gives me. That and the fact I bought her from Jodi Wever five years ago. If others regard the fiber as I do, good luck finding any dams like mine for sale.

Subject: [AlpacaTalk] Re: Acero Marka
My understanding is that Acero Marka is both the name of a specific herdsire and an alpaca ranch in Bolivia named "Hacienda Acero Marka" that is known for producing alpacas with very fine fiber. However, as far as I have been able to tell, there are no records available for anyone to tell if their full-Bolivian alpaca came from the Hacienda Acero Marka ranch or not.
I just did a search on AlpacaNation for full-Bolivian gray females, and found only 10, and only 5 are rose-gray. One of them is my Bolivian Christina. She's very hardy; still going strong at age 14, pregnant and due in February.
