RE: [AlpacaTalk] Re: breeder/references
Susan, Your story made me laugh. I have a girl just like this, one of my first purchases. She doesn't kick but is a champion spitter. I was warned by the breeder that when she was pregnant she was very crabby but sweet after she delivered. It didn't matter to me. I didn't want a pet. Her confirmation was good and she came from good lines and had fleece to die for. This trait has come in handy. One year I had visitors during shearing and wasn't paying attention. I usually warn visitors about her. I looked up and saw Chyna nuzzling one of the visitors who had her arms wrapped around her neck and was kissing her on the head. I knew immediately she wasn't pregnant even though she had been bred months before and initially tested positive. I bred her again and was saved missing a whole year by her behavior. She has had 4 stunning cria for me, 3 boys and 1 girl. Her off spring all have the sweetest temperments so she has passed on her true personality to them. Every one of them is friendly and easy to handle. I am curious to see if the female cria (last one born) has the same trait when she is bred. She is the most nurturing mother here. Just goes to show how hormones can effect females.
