Re: [AlpacaTalk] cria with low pasterns

I've had a few llama crias born with low pasterns.  Is he a particularly big baby, or was he early?  (Ours were all with either big crias (35 lbs) or ones that came a few weeks early.)  I would give him at least a week and see if the pasterns come up on their own (ours always have).  If they are still low after a week, I have heard of braces that you can get to use.    I have also heard about giving a selenium shot (BoSe or MuSe, not sure which- best consult your vet) to these crias.  Congrats on the cria, and good luck with him!  Emaly

I have a llama cria that was born today and his front pasterns are really low. Is there something I can do to help this? Thanks for any info.
