What I understand is that alfalfa is too high in calcium which if not
in correct balance with - ugh, something else... phosphorus?
potassium maybe? - for alpacas, it can cause problems. Also,
depending in the protein content of the alfalfa, it can be too high
for alpacas. Not all alfalfa harvests are equal, and protein levels
will vary.
That's as much as I know. :)
