[AlpacaTalk] What did I find in the Barn?

Hi group. Thought maybe someone could help with the mystery of what I found in the barn this morning. It sure looked like a Y shaped placenta that may have been expelled sometime recently. However, it was quite small (6 inches in length)and no sign of fetus. My question is: all of my girls are due April - July so I would assume any fetus lost now would be quite indentifiable. When we spit test our girls in January, I only had one that should have been pregnant but cushed for the boy. If she aborted, could it take this long for her to expel the placenta? I also have an older girl who should not be pregnant but acts like she is. Would an retained CL have that affect?
My second guess is that it is something the cats dragged in and it just looks like a placenta? Could be a mystery that goes unsolved. Any ideas? Thanks and (I know)a vet check will be happening soon for the two questionable girls.
