[AlpacaTalk] RE: bill against farms
Thanks for posting this capecod (you didn't sign your post so I don't
know who you are).
As an organic farmer I have been following this very closely and it is
scary beyond belief. You are right about Stalin, as well as other
gov'ts that have controlled the food supply as a way to control the
people.
This bill is interlocked with several others, most notably the NAIS
which must now be passed in order for this bill to "work". And yes that
will affect us as alpaca farms as well.
But there are other bills as well, all interlocking, that scare the
bejesus out of me and should everyone that grows a little food. Did you
hear about the single mom that was arrested and handcuffed in front of
her 4 kids for selling goat's milk? Or the homeschooling hog farmers
whose hogs, including the pet pigs that were bottle raised, were shot
with shotguns right in front of the children and then hauled off on the
Ag dept trucks trailing blood all the way? Or the organic coop in PA or
IL (can't remember now) that was swarmed by a SWAT team from AG dept,
held at gun point, including the children, in their home while the men
searched their property and confiscated their entire year's worth of put
up food AND all their animals? this was done because they GAVE a dozen
eggs to an undercover agent trying to purchase eggs from them for his
"ailing mother". They supposedly did not have the proper license to bes
running a "food facility", when all they had done was open up their
garage to provide a location for other farmers to bring their
organically raised foods to sell to MEMBERS of the coop only. This and
similar actions all occurred in the past 6-12 mos in AMERICA. This is
all going on under our noses, WITHOUT benefit of this bill. Folks,
there is something foul afoot.
There are those that say many are being alarmist and that there is no
language in this bill that specifically states that personal producers
will be effected. However, the frightening part is the vagueness of the
language in the bill, which *IS* strange given the length and detail of
it. It is the very vagueness which puts us all at risk. Big Brother is
opening the door and sticking their big fat foot right in it so we
cannot close it again. So many folks have already been negatively
affected by their state dept of ag - maybe personal vendettas, who
knows. But once this bill gets in place, dept of ag will have the power
to basically shut down and worse arrest anyone they don't like, anyone
upsetting the apple cart, etc etc. I could tell you so many
unbelievable stories that have happened to organically growing,
homeschooling, coop running, csa, etc type. There is even language
floating around that they will make it illegal to grow your OWN
medicinal herbs.
Many feel there is a lot of exaggeration going around about this bill.
Yet the proof is in the pudding. There are many examples around the
world of how the people have been controlled by these sorts of
regulations; and in our own country of folks that have been put out of
business and forced into bankruptcy due to the actions of over zealous
Ag people slaughtering all their animals, burning their orange groves, etc.
I am starting some beehives this year. The next county over from me has
recently classified honey bees as "livestock" and coincidently it is
illlegal in that county to have "livestock" on less than 2 acres. With
NAIS every one of those honey bees will now have to be microchipped!
Oh I could go on and on, but I won't. I'm just thankful so many are out
here spreading the word around about what is really going on. Calling
it the Food Safety Bill is simply a misnomer to pull the wool over most
legislatures' eyes who don't/won't take the time to actually read the
thing before signing it.
Warmly, Janice
