Don't be confused by the Latin and French names for "Goldenseal"!  I received my Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture and Botany (prior to becoming a Suri breeder), so just for grins and giggles, here is some quick Goldenseal trivia :-)

Hydrastis canadensis (Capital "H", small "c", written in italics) is the botanical name for "Goldenseal", which would be one of the "common names".  "Hydrastis" is the genus, and "canadensis" is the species.  The word "canadensis" refers to the fact that this Hydrastis is native to Canada and northeastern United States.  Goldenseal is also commonly known as Orange-root and Orangeroot.   It is a perennial herb in the buttercup family (whose botanical name is "Ranunculaceae".  "Racine de Hydraste" is French for "Hydrastis Root".
