Thank you for the info; I recently joined AOBA as an associate member hoping this would be one more learning vehicle for me. I have not rec'd any of the referenced "blasts" yet but maybe my membership is so new they have not caught up to me yet.

Hi Deb,So far as I know, Email Blasts go to all members at all levels.I just wishthat there were more discussion.more input and more communication of theBOD's ruminations.before the email Blasts..Allison who feels the whole idea of a "blast" is a bit too abrupt forseveral reasons!!!From: AlpacaTalk@yahoogroups.com [mailto:AlpacaTalk@yahoogroups.com] OnBehalf Of Deb WellinghoffSent: Thursday, November 13, 2008 6:40 AMTo: alpacatalk@yahoogroups.comSubject: RE: [AlpacaTalk] Sent to Alpaca site...held, not posted by site...Hello . . . . question for the group regarding the AOBA discussion. Assomeone just researching the world of alpacas and all that goes with that Ihave a question regarding the AOBA communications. There are two membershiplevels in the organization (associate and farm) and I wondered if the BODcommunications go to both types of memeberships or only the farm membership. Can someone enlighten me on that?Thank you,Deb Welllinghoffdeb_wellinghoff@hotmail.com <mailto:deb_wellinghoff%40hotmail.com> Columbia, ILTo: AlpacaTalk@yahoogroups.comFrom <mailto:AlpacaTalk%40yahoogroups.comFrom>: aemoss17@comcast.netDate <mailto:aemoss17%40comcast.netDate> : Thu, 13 Nov2008 06:31:06 -0800Subject: RE: [AlpacaTalk] Sent to Alpaca site...held, notposted by site...Hi Laurel,I agree with you on all of that..I wish there had been more andbettercommunication.but.I think that they are trying to use the Blastsystem.Ialways have disliked that name.the Blasting alsays seems to me tobeabrupt.and it lacks the "Hello folks, we're thinking of doing this.thisiswhy" sort of communication that I'd like to see there. I agree that thereshould be more. BOD members.and that they are vastlyoverworked. But I don'twant folks to start to run with the bit in their mouths.scaredandsuspicious, this early in the "life" of a brand new BOD.One that I have highhopes will be working to let the industry achieve somenecessary goals.justbecause of a very poor choice of examples.with anartless choice of words.I'mhoping that the idea of Branded Beef was just used because "CertifiedAngus"has come to mean a quality, consistent product for the consumer. Not becausethe BOD is wanting to cull young males onto American dinnerplates.I'm hopingif the electorate does not foam at the mouth, maybe the BOD canfigure outthat this was not a good choice of examples and explain beforethe lynch mobis done making its plans. But I will be very sad if one of them does not soonfigure out that this isthe problem.step up, explain, calm fears and moveforward..let us hope ithappens this morning.I was disappointed to find thatRick is still "moderating" me months afterthe last salvo.Allison.whose girlis now almost a month late birthing.we heard heartbeatsyesterday, though. From: AlpacaTalk@yahoogroups.com<mailto:AlpacaTalk%40yahoogroups.com> [mailto:AlpacaTalk@yahoogroups.com<mailto:AlpacaTalk%40yahoogroups.com> ] OnBehalf Of ShouvlinsSent: Thursday,November 13, 2008 5:29 AMTo: AlpacaTalk@yahoogroups.comSubject<mailto:AlpacaTalk%40yahoogroups.comSubject> : Re: [AlpacaTalk] Sent toAlpaca site...held, not posted by site...I don't care much about theindividual views of the Board Members (althoughthey are certainly entitledto them). However, I do care about how those Board Members represent themembership'sinterests and how they steward the assets of the organization.Ido care about communication between the Board Members and the Membership/Affiliates that they require a fair amount from.I do care about how theBoard finds good people to sit on committees.I do care about a Board of 5who is strapped due to the nature of thebusiness requiring so much more than5 individuals can do alone (I feel thatthe board should actually be 7 or 9individuals, but recognize bylaw changeswould be required and that's a majorobstacle).I do care about how the Board will achieve communication withAffiliates andmembers in the absence of the Affiliate Committee.I am willingto wait to hear soon how that will be achieved.I saw the affiliate committeeas a step in the right direction to achievecommunication and the exchange ofideas, an oppportunity to allow themembership to take "ownership" of AOBA,and for the AOBA board to find good, committed folks to fill seats oncommittees or to take on various projects. At this point I am sorry to see itgo by the wayside, but anxious to findout how that void will befilled.LaurelTim & Laurel ShouvlinBluebird Hills Farm3617 DerrRd.Springfield, Ohio 45503bluebirdhills@voyager.net<mailto:45503bluebirdhills%40voyager.net><mailto:bluebirdhills%40voyager.net>www.bluebirdhills.com937-206-3936[Non-text portions of this message havebeen removed][Non-text portions of this message have been removed] __________________________________________________________Stay up to date on your PC, the Web, and your mobile phone with Windows Livehttp://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/119462413/direct/01/[Non-text portions of this message have been removed][Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
