RE: [AlpacaTalk] Sent to Alpaca site...held, not posted by site...

Hi Deb,

So far as I know, Email Blasts go to all members at all levels.I just wish
that there were more discussion.more input and more communication of the
BOD's ruminations.before the email Blasts..

Allison who feels the whole idea of a "blast" is a bit too abrupt for
several reasons!!!

Hello . . . . question for the group regarding the AOBA discussion. As
someone just researching the world of alpacas and all that goes with that I
have a question regarding the AOBA communications. There are two membership
levels in the organization (associate and farm) and I wondered if the BOD
communications go to both types of memeberships or only the farm membership.
Can someone enlighten me on that?

Thank you,

Hi Laurel,I agree with you on all of that..I wish there had been more and
bettercommunication.but.I think that they are trying to use the Blast
system.Ialways have disliked that name.the Blasting alsays seems to me to
beabrupt.and it lacks the "Hello folks, we're thinking of doing this.this
iswhy" sort of communication that I'd like to see there. I agree that there
should be more. BOD members.and that they are vastlyoverworked. But I don't
want folks to start to run with the bit in their mouths.scaredand
suspicious, this early in the "life" of a brand new BOD.One that I have high
hopes will be working to let the industry achieve somenecessary goals.just
because of a very poor choice of examples.with anartless choice of words.I'm
hoping that the idea of Branded Beef was just used because "CertifiedAngus"
has come to mean a quality, consistent product for the consumer. Not because
the BOD is wanting to cull young males onto American dinnerplates.I'm hoping
if the electorate does not foam at the mouth, maybe the BOD canfigure out
that this was not a good choice of examples and explain beforethe lynch mob
is done making its plans. But I will be very sad if one of them does not soon
figure out that this isthe problem.step up, explain, calm fears and move
forward..let us hope ithappens this morning.I was disappointed to find that
Rick is still "moderating" me months afterthe last salvo.Allison.whose girl
is now almost a month late birthing.we heard heartbeatsyesterday,
though.From: AlpacaTalk@yahoogroups.com

Alpaca site...held, not posted by site...I don't care much about the
individual views of the Board Members (althoughthey are certainly entitled
to them). However, I do care about how those Board Members represent the
membership'sinterests and how they steward the assets of the organization.I
do care about communication between the Board Members and the Membership
/Affiliates that they require a fair amount from.I do care about how the
Board finds good people to sit on committees.I do care about a Board of 5
who is strapped due to the nature of thebusiness requiring so much more than
5 individuals can do alone (I feel thatthe board should actually be 7 or 9
individuals, but recognize bylaw changeswould be required and that's a major
obstacle).I do care about how the Board will achieve communication with
Affiliates andmembers in the absence of the Affiliate Committee.I am willing
to wait to hear soon how that will be achieved.I saw the affiliate committee
as a step in the right direction to achievecommunication and the exchange of
ideas, an oppportunity to allow themembership to take "ownership" of AOBA,
and for the AOBA board to find good, committed folks to fill seats on
committees or to take on various projects. At this point I am sorry to see it
go by the wayside, but anxious to findout how that void will be
filled.LaurelTim & Laurel ShouvlinBluebird Hills Farm3617 Derr
