I don't care much about the individual views of the Board Members (although they are certainly entitled to them).
However, I do care about how those Board Members represent the membership's interests and how they steward the assets of the organization.
I do care about communication between the Board Members and the Membership / Affiliates that they require a fair amount from.
I do care about how the Board finds good people to sit on committees.
I do care about a Board of 5 who is strapped due to the nature of the business requiring so much more than 5 individuals can do alone (I feel that the board should actually be 7 or 9 individuals, but recognize bylaw changes would be required and that's a major obstacle).
I do care about how the Board will achieve communication with Affiliates and members in the absence of the Affiliate Committee.
I am willing to wait to hear soon how that will be achieved.
I saw the affiliate committee as a step in the right direction to achieve communication and the exchange of ideas, an oppportunity to allow the membership to take "ownership" of AOBA, and for the AOBA board to find good, committed folks to fill seats on committees or to take on various projects.
At this point I am sorry to see it go by the wayside, but anxious to find out how that void will be filled.
