I don't think there is a way to prevent any size cats or bears from
getting into your pastures, if they are so determined. Even our
housecats can and will jump/climb our fencing, and it's a fun game for
them to run along the top rail.
A friend lost her best, fairly famous, herdsire to a cougar years ago.
There were trees that had branches that extended from the outside over
the fence, and they decided that was how it got in. But even housecats
can jump 6 feet from sitting position, in one leap. Fences just won't
stop a determined cat of any size.
In some cases, the best defense is a few livestock guard dogs in
addition to secure fencing.
