[AlpacaTalk] RE: DE

<<Janice - yes, we only pay $13 - $18 a 50 lb bag for food-grade
diatomaceous
earth at our local feedstore (Hay Connection in Norco, CA). I learned they
carried it AFTER I paid $47 to buy it and have it shipped from
elsewhere. One
bag lasted us all summer and I have 5 horses I also feed it to daily. I am
still feeding it now, it was 95 degrees here today and we STILL have
flies in
NOVEMBER. What a state.

I wonder why my feed store is quoting such a high price?! someone sent
me a web site they order from, but I haven't yet checked it. I know
that stuff is heavy and must cost a fortune to ship! But at app $15 for
50#, it would be cheaper to buy from them and have them ship it than to
buy locally.

95! Oh my Susan, we have already had several freezes here. But I am
thinking I am going to go ahead and DE my ducks and chickens since they
have never been wormed and they are sharing the pasture with the
alpacas. I am thinking I will do it for a month and then stop till fly
season next summer. But first I have to find some.

Warmly, Janice in GA
And since the comment was made that everyone uses their farm name, etc
in their sig line I think I will add mine today since I never use my
farm name here:

Janice Holley Houck, owner
Loving Hearts Organic Pharm and Wellness Center
where happy, healthy living is our specialty!

I sell organic produce and am currently drying organically grown apples
to sell.....not advertising here, just informing :-).
Would *love* to add alpaca fiber products to my offerings.
Am also a holistic health practitioner......psychologist, nutritionist,
masssage therapist and see my clients (when I *had* some) here at the
farm for a holistic experience.

My ad in the Organic Foods publication says that I also raise happy
healthy horses, alpacas, and kiddos, but they are not for sale!
