[AlpacaTalk] Free Speech, again

So here I am, hauling out the 2nd Amendment speech again. I believe in
freedom of speech and freedom of the press. I believe every one of us
has the right to say something's wrong when we believe so.

I believe that every one of those with differing views than mine, also
have the right of free speech. What I will not tolerate is people
telling anyone to stop complaining, telling those with concerns that
they should just shut up already and go ahead and start a new breeders
org, for example. That's a cop-out, and shows they're inflexible and
not willing to change things for the better. In fact, I say it our
responsibility to point out things that are wrong, for the good of the
group, so that positive change can be made. So my delivery isn't
popular with many people. I can live with that. I feel strongly about
something, I get worked up, I become less eloquent than I should be.
That doesn't make my opinion wrong or invalid.

Being thankful to those who "built" the alpaca industry in the US has
nothing to do with fawning over the richest of the rich breeders with
herds 1000+ head, who have been in control of EVERYTHING in the past.
There are plenty of breeders who do not have those enormous herds, who
have also done great service to the industry in the US. Jan and Dale
Davis come to mind. Really nice people. I shared a stall with them at
Heart of the Valley last year. Maybe some of their magic rubbed off! My
girl got 4th in her halter class at that show, but the following show
placed 2nd for her fleece (behind an Inti-Sapa son)! Linda Berry Walker
also comes to mind. She got fed up with the BS and did leave. I say we
should not force out people who want to make things fair for all. And
should not shout them down and call them names and characterize their
concern as bitching or ranting. That is non-productive. And those who
did it should be ashamed of themselves.

Hopefully things are changing. We have a new board, although Ian Watt's
presence makes me uneasy.
