Buying the 1/2" needles is by far the easier way to go. I use my old
1" needles to draw up the Ivomec then switch to the 1/2" to inject.
The reason for using a different needle to draw up the med is that it
stings and so using a clean needle to inject lessens the sting.

As a RN, I never understood the technique that I was taught as an
alpaca newbie to inject alpacas SQ using a 1" needle. It was
unnecessarily complicated. Once I started giving the injections in
the same way I do for humans, it became so much quicker and easier.
