Re: [AlpacaTalk] hen- sour crop
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions! My hen is doing much better
and has moved back out to the henhouse.
We had but I couldn't find activated charcoal, we had but I couldn't
find my goldenseal. But I did visit the website you suggested, Flossie,
lots of great info there!
So I remembered that I had been giving Self-Heal tea to one of our cats
who was on the brink of death, he hadn't eaten for days and was just
getting worse. The tea fixed him right up! So in addition to the
mineral oil, water, yogurt that I was giving my hen, I added Kyo-Green
and the self-heal tea. I'm not kidding, within 2 hours, her breath was
no longer bad, her poop was pretty close to normal, and she ate all of
the 1/2 cup of tabouli that I offered to her. :)
But now, I have another hen who isn't doing well. We just picked her
and another hen up from my daughter's house. Our other hens almost
immediately attacked her, she began limping and dragging one wing...
poor thing was very stressed out. So now she's in the bathroom till I
figure out if it's anything besides stress. I did give her 6 ml of
mineral oil and 5 ml of self-heal tea just for good measure. But she's
very warm, mouth breathing, and isn't interested in food or water.
We have separated the two meanest girls, so maybe tomorrow I'll try
reintroducing this new girl to the rest of the nice ones. If they
attack again I don't know what to do!
