When first reading about the formation of a nonprofit entity to work
in tandem with the for profit entity AOBA has formed, I was DELIGHTED
and IMPRESSED !!
I thought, 'SOMEONE IS REALLY ON TOP OF IT !!"
Then I read some of the posts and it has become obvious to me that
MANY have not worked with/for a non profit agency.
The combination of the two entities is the SMARTEST way to proceed.
There are many tax advantages in doing this.
The bulk (22 yrs.) of my professional life has been working with
nonprofits.
As the CLINICAL MANAGER of OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY for THE VISITING
NURSE ASSOCIATION of TEXAS, corporate office in DALLAS with 8 branch
offices thruout N. TEXAS,
we formed a for profit entity UNDER the nonprofit 501c 3.
The FOR PROFIT entity allowed us to start a program called
INDEPENDENCE PLUS for seniors providing home modifications.
This IP program was originally started with grant money.
So there are money ways to organize your MONEY, YOUR TAXES and your
EFFORTS.
I'm not gonna get into quoting tax scripture because I'm not a CPA.
But the questions on here concerning the nonprofit, need to be left
in the hands of the BOD.
These people appear to be quite skilled, educated, and quite
experienced.
I, personally, having worked along side of MANY famous people in the
medical industry, the brighest and best am
TRUELY impressed with the quality, INTELLIGENCE and professionalism
of our aoba bod.
Steve Hull in particular is by far, the most educated, the most
intelligent and the most articulate person I have ever met and I, for
one, feel very safe and secure with him at the helm !!
