Re: [AlpacaTalk] sugar beets

I've tried it a couple times but my girls don't like it.  Good thing I have horses - they love it :)

Many people do use shredded beet pulp as a supplement, but we don't
because it's a sugar supplement, and I've read many people say that
they have alpacas who are allergic to beet pulp, or don't tolerate it
for some reason. When we have animals that need more calories for
weight gain or whatever, we use rice bran and flax seed, up to 1/4 cup
per day of each, in addition to their free choice hay and regular
alpaca feed supplement.
