[AlpacaTalk] Pendleton project

Hi all,
We are now accepting fiber for this project as the informal "go" has
finally been given. Whites and browns only at this time. Sorry, but I
can not promise anything in return from this initial run, but, there is
no fee either-it will however, cost you postage to send the fiber. I
am willing to pick up fiber if the travel distance is not too great.
There may soon be additional collection points in Washington and
Colorado.

Let me see....
1. From this first run, there should be blankets available to purchase
at cost plus 3%.
2. If successful, the subsequent runs should produce more. This is
because of the minimum poundage of a color/grade/sort that can be
used. Therefore, color/grade/sorts that have less than the required
poundage can be added to in run 2 and 3 (etc.) and meet the minimums
thereby producing more than the initial 2 of a color/grade/sort.
3. It is too early to guess how much you will be paid for your fiber
starting with (probably) run 3. My SWAG is $30 per pound.
4. Yes, sending fiber that is pre-sorted will help a lot and will also
speed up the entire process.
5. The initial run should be finished well prior to the next holiday
season; hopefully the second run as well.
6. The business valuation for Elderberry Creek Alpacas product side is
almost complete. This has turned out to be a rather time-consuming
process with the three valuations (cost/3-year ave ROI/auction value)
and all the modifiers required to determine the actual value.
Preliminary estimates are $62,000-$68,000. Hopefully, this of a price
will allow us to sell quickly and give the needed time to focus on
fiber projects. If you know of anyone interested in purchasing the
business (be it alpaca farm or holiday event circuit), please let us
know.
