Congrats Wendy! The crias are always so adorable. I have a question - where
did you get the colostrum? I recently lost a newborn as the mama died either
in childbirth or soon after. She was dead when I got up that morning and the
baby nearly dead. A friend got right over with some frozen goat colostrum
she had saved from her goats and I bottle fed for 4 days before the perfect
little one died. I was so sad as the daddy had died in January and this was the
only thing I had left of him. The mama's death was a total shock. She went
off her feed the night before but had been apparently fine right up until then.
I was horrified and heartbroken the next morning.
I have had other babies that couldn't nurse - we seem to have a frequent
premmies or weak crias that can't or won't nurse. I am not that experienced and
have a very small hobby herd for fiber.
So I was curious as to where and how you obtained colostrum - was it alpaca?

Someone recently posted that they had all male babies - me too! What is that
all about? I have had 5 crias total and each and every one has been a male!

Thanks, Janice in GA
