[AlpacaTalk] a new birth

hi - we had a beautiful boy born yesterday - he is mom's first cria and she had a rough time, he was very frail at birth and we were very concerned - he didn't nurse and we finally gave him colustrum by bottle after 5 hours. But two hours later he was up and aggressively nursing and mom had settled down and figured it all out.

Last night he was even having a little play time around the shelter, coordinating those long legs and bouncing around.

this morning he is bright, alert, nursing strongly and exploring the paddock with his mom. I have our "aunty" alpaca (14 years old) in with the two

A beautiful little guy, he shows both his mom and dad's heritage - he's definitely a keeper!!

What a relief!!
