For what it's worth, my take on "pet quality" is a bit simple. A male's
SECOND fleece has to be finer, weigh more, and have a staple length longer
than 95% of our females. Of course, he also has to be conformationally
"correct". Finally, the SECOND fleece of 95% of his progeny must be finer,
weigh more, and have a longer staple length that their dam's. Otherwise,
they are pets. So far, all of our males are "pet quality", with one
potential "keeper" that we won't know for sure for another three to four
years.
