Concrete in barns:
I have had several types of barn floors since getting into alpacas and I can
tell you that they will seek out the cement. I don't know why but even here
in CO when it's really cold they will select cement over soil or snow. (I do
put bedding over it when it's cold)
Be sure the cement is very rough as they slip easily on smooth cement. It
also keeps their toenails filed and they seem to like it as well as any
other cement they could lay on. The barns I've used with smooth cement gets
covered with used carpet so they won't slip on spilt water or hay, and the
alpacas like that just as well.
