[Alpacasite] Re: Inner Ear Infection
I am sorry, I lost the original post! Please do contact Dr. Pollard, we use his homeopathic remedies extensively.
He has a wonderful ear flush (might not be good if there is a hole in the eardrum, but for later) as well as a sort of cream that is very good in times of ear infection.
Has your vet actually been able to see the eardrum to see if there is perforation? Perhaps you should discuss Baytril with your vet. It is another good antibiotic that we have seen used in lingering infections like this.
Long ago we had a male who got a tick bite in his ear that caused an infection, he suffered partial facial paralysis as a result, and we almost lost him.
We had ear cream twice a day, Nuflor every other day for a total of seven shots, and another ear flush product. His eye was affected so we used drops to keep it moist as he couldn't close it all the way.
He still has some lingering paralysis but recovered nicely from the infection. Perhaps your baby's ear canals are even smaller than the average alpaca? That does happen in humans (take me for example, can't even equalize under water)
All me if you want and I will give you the vet's number who made up our batch of 'ear cream'.
Best of luck, and call if you need to!

Is there some way to get a culture of what is going on in that ear and
determine exactly what you are dealing with so as to know exactly what to give?
