Re: [Alpacasite] Marketing your alpacas
Dear llauletta,
You ask a great question and one that IMHO there is not a single best
answer. You will find that each member approaches marketing in different
ways. It depends on your talents, creativity, budget and time. Here are
a few ideas and there are MANY more than mine. Which one is best depends
on your circumstances:
1. Website - personal or paid ones such as AlpacaNation
2. Direct Mail - sending out newsletters, mailings, postcards, etc.
3. AOBA Marketing - Member of the Farm & Ranch Guide and use of lead
program among other programs
4. Local Co-op marketing - AOBA regional associations and local
cooperative marketing groups
5. On Farm open houses/fairs/local events
6. Developing and using local/regional and national PR to generate farm
interest
7. E-Mail - using e-mail to market farm and ranch sales - lists can be
purchased from AOBA
There are so many more to list but I think you might get the idea. AOBA
is a great resource. Contact the main office and ask to see a list of
the marketing tools available to members. They have a vast library of
marketing ideas and tools available to help you.
Use your mentor farm for help. One of the things we offer our clients is
help in marketing their animals.
This group is another great source of ideas. I suspect you will get many
better ideas than mine. If there is anything I can do to help feel free
to contact me directly, I would be more than willing to help.
PS - it is helpful to the list if you sign your posts with a name, farm
name (if applicable) and the city/state locations. It helps other site
participants more directly respond to your questions (some answers to
some questions are very site specific).
Good luck!
