[AlpacaTalk] Re: Orphan Cria!

So far so good. She is eating well and drinking. We are giving extra supplementation. We have her and our bottle baby segregated from the others at night with access to alfalfa/ orchard grass and their grain and fibrevive. Adding probiotics for stress. Thanks for asking.

This dam was an excellent mom, too. I have mineral out 24/7 so she's got it if she wants it. Our bottle baby is eating well and has been cut back to 3 bottles and is doing well. He is a June 14 Cria, so very close in age.

That's the true way to tell if she is able to sustain herself. If she was mine I would offer her  bottles for the next few days.Make sure she gets a taste of the goods.Start weighing her now so you know fast if she is not maintaining her weight.I guess is if she is hungry over the next few days, she will figure the bottle out.I am not a vet but I am an alpaca farmer for many years!Make sure you have minerals out that she can get to, some alfalfa for both cria would be good, along with alpaca/llama pellets...... Good luck!
