Re: [AlpacaTalk] Flies making me nuts.....
We have used them for several years. They work well and never caught a bird, just nasty flies, ocassional moths, wasps. I wonder if any others on this site have experience with this product. We love our barn swallows! Hi, Dave - Jan, Help, in my barnyard the animals do fine. (goats, sheep and chickens)but there are flies all over my alpacas. I hate it! Why is it that they are on them and how do I get rid of them?

The sticky tape about which I'm talking is a narrow twine-size tape - so narrow there's almost no room for flies. We are not privileged to have barn swallows - we have LOTS of sparrows and finches - and we've NEVER had a bird stuck on this tape.
I really do highly recommend it.

clean the fecal matter from all the pastures daily into a compost.
treat the compost weekly with fly parasites - read this - http://www.insectary.com/portfolio-items/fly-parasites/
then - Try this in the barn:

Finally, there is a product called QuikStrike which will get rid of any remaining flies.
