Re: [AlpacaTalk] Question....

Very important question. I don't have all the answers, but I can tell you that if you are in Meningeal Worm territory, you absolutely must give Ivomec each and every month, even in winter. As for other parasites, on our farm, we only worm as necessary. In some areas it is necessary to give West Nile vaccine, some states or counties require rabies. Tetanus is always a good idea, and that can be purchased separately from your vet or from Jeffers Vet, and maybe Valley Vet. Many people give CD&T, we used to, but haven't for several years. We don't feed corn or grain so the risk of clostridia is low.

We do feed a good quality hay, current;y 2nd cut orchard grass/alfalfa mix, Stillwater 104 free choice, and we have a custom pellet made, alfalfa based with flax seed and a vit/min mix.

Still without animals and in the learning stage. Can I ask what you give your alpacas and when, your routine? (immunizations/worming)

Thank you,
