Re: [AlpacaTalk] RE: Linked In

LinkedIn is another online venue that's more professional than social.  I'd rejected a number of connection requests until I looked into it a bit more and began to get requests from people I was very confident were on the level.  Now that I've "joined" and started accepting requests, I've also issued a number of requests - not only to alpaca breeders but other professional people I work with.

The one problem I found with LinkedIn was that sometimes it gives you a limited number of "suggestions" (people who have profiles that contain key words, such as "alpaca" or "notary") and sometimes it gives you what appears to be a limited list but may be your entire contact list.  If you check the box that says "all," you can be inviting people you really didn't mean to invite.

LinkedIn isn't a spam venue, but with all the online activity and various sites, it can seem like one if you aren't familiar with it.  You can always reject an invitation if you think it's spam or even just if it's somebody you don't want to connect with.

Subject: [AlpacaTalk] RE: Linked In

I am confused by these posts.....they look like spam to me.
One from someone we know well here, but one from a name I have never seen post on this list.
There is so much spam going on these days and so many email addys being hijacked I would never ever click on a link in an email such as this.

Yet because I asked last time someone on this list posted about joining LinkedIn.....I can't remember - was that you Allison?, I am now interested, but again would not click on a generic non-requested invite.

Judith, if this is indeed you and you would like to invite me personally - or the person who posted this a while back...... I would love to join!

What benefits are obtained by someone joining via your personal invitation?

Thanks!
Janice
