RE: [AlpacaTalk] 1st cria

I am so sorry for your loss.   We, too, experienced the birth of our first cria this year (June 5th) and our first loss.   He was absolutely beautiful from the ears back, but had a severe case of wry face that made it impossible for him to nurse.   We did everything we could to give him a fighting chance, but we knew from the moment we saw him that it probably was not meant to be.  His mother (a maiden) was amazing with him, and so patient with us as we tried to help.   It was a devastating loss,  but just last week, we had our first healthy, happy cria - a beautiful (of course, I might be biased!) little white girl.   She was tiny at 10.8 lbs., but she is thriving and is driving her mother to distraction with her sense of adventure.   I know how badly you must feel about your loss, as we felt the same.   Just know that these things happen sometimes, despite our best efforts.   It's a tough way to start - waiting all that time, only to experience a painful loss, but hopefully your next attempt will work out just fine, as ours did.

My thoughts are with you!
