[AlpacaTalk] re: leg problem puzzling

<<<Hi,
It could be a stifle problem. Patella fixation. Try to check up her knee.
Good luck
Frans Voskuil>>>

Hmmm, I have a mini horse with that issue, or at least he used to have that issue, I haven't noticed it in many years.
I'll see if she'll let me manipulate her knee, but every time I have tried to approach her while she is struggling with this leg I am worried she will injure herself trying to get away from me.....because try to get away from me she does!    So I have stood a respectful distance away and just watched.

<<<hi Janice - could her hip joint be slipping?
Wendy>>>>>

It sure looks that way from the way her leg just kinda flops around loosely from the hip when she is experiencing this.
But there is no money for vets, there is no vet to come here, and I have no way to transport her the considerable distance to a vet that would work with her, so nothing I can do about it from that point :-(.
It's the same for all the animals (and humans) here at this time.   We just have to do the best we can.

If I could find a good home to place them I would, along with the 2 fabulous Pyrs, and the ducks I keep for snail control.
I have already rehomed over half my duck, guinea, and chicken flocks.
Apparently this economic situation is not going to resolve itself.   My business died in summer 08 and has not come back.....and doesn't look like its going to, at least not anytime soon.    I have run us into the hole feeding everybody for the past 2-3 yrs when I couldn't really afford to, and we have spent no money on anything else at all.....so we can buy feed for everybody.   I have just been brokenhearted at the thought of losing my dream, so just keep holding onto the thought that things will surely turn around soon.   My fear is the day I rehome them work will return, so I keep on keeping on.

It doesn't seem to be causing her undue distress (but who would know!), but she sure has a hard time cushing when her leg is like this.     She is 10yo, so not exactly elderly, but I do notice that she, more than any of the others, just likes to hang out in the barn in front of the fan.   It has been so unseasonably hot here and it started so early this year, but they did get sheared, so thankful for that.

Thanks, Janice
