I agree with not feeding grain to machos except in extremally cold weather and a
little hand full now and then to keep them easy to catch.

We don't give our males any feed, just lots of quality hay.
Our pregnant females, and youngsters give feed, but only in small quantities,
and again lots of good hay.
One can cut costs considerably if you ration properly.
Most of us alpaca breeders over feed our guys... :)
