OT Re: [AlpacaTalk] RE: alfalfa hay

Hi Susan:
I am 5' 6" I was around 198 lbs. I switched from sugar to artificial sweeteners in my two or three cups of coffee a day and also anything that I would sprinkle sugar on. Started drinking only diet soft drinks. Other wise I pretty much eat what I like.

I am now down to about 150 lbs. which is the same weight that I was in high school. WHOOPIE!!!!!

By for now, Wayne

In my case....it is the opposite.  I am seriously overweight, could stand to loose about 75 pounds...but my animals are all in excellent shape.  I can control what they eat, and don't want them to ever suffer because of being overweight.  three of them are working border collies who need to be fit and trim to do their jobs.  Now me......I can't seem to control what I eat.  THAT is where I know it's psycological forces at work. That and lack of exercise, other than farm chores.  One of my alpacas has trouble gaining weight.  So he gets the extras.

Yes, I have noticed this. Wonder if it is because of the lack of
exercise or bad diet or both?>>>

Yep, this is a well known phenomenon lol. It has to do with very
complicated psychological forces and self image and equating food with
love and not feeling so bad about being obese if everyone around you is
also obese and has to do with the feeling of not being loved if not
offered food and feeling their animal is not well loved unless it is
overfed. Many vets can tell you of clients and their overwt pets and
how they have begged the owner to stop overfeeding but the owner is just
simply not able to stop.
